This safety video program on Walking and Working Surfaces discusses the hazards that are associated with different walking surfaces that employees can encounter on the job, and provides practical information that they need to protect themselves from harm.
We depend on the surfaces that we walk and work on for a lot of things…to provide the support we need to position ourselves properly, to help us use our muscles efficiently, to keep our balance, and do our work safely. But we often take their condition for granted, and that is a big mistake. Year after year slips, trips and falls make up the majority of on-the-job accidents. They cause almost 20% of disabling occupational injuries, and thousands of fatalities annually. Yet most of these accidents could have been prevented.
Areas covered in the safety video program include:
- the fundamentals of safe surfaces,
- walking and working on walkways and floors,
- stairs and fixed ladders,
- portable ladders,
- scaffolding, and more.
